Record-Breaking Numbers and Vital Conversations at EPAE 2024
The 12th International Conference on Environmental Protection & Energy (EPAE 2024), hosted on December 6th at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energy at the Silesian University of Technology, proved to be an extraordinary event. This year’s edition set new records with over 300 participants and an impressive showcase of nearly 250 presentations and 60 posters.
Global Participation and Innovative Dialogue
EPAE 2024 attracted attendees from around the world, including prominent representatives of academia and industry. The event also engaged a significant number of young professionals and students passionate about environmental protection and energy transformation.
With a diverse mix of cutting-edge research results, innovative ideas, and impactful discussions, the conference became a melting pot of collaboration and inspiration.
Empowering Young Scientists
“This conference is created by young scientists for young scientists. We aim to empower them with opportunities to present their research and gain experience in organizing large-scale events,” explained Prof. Krzysztof Pikoń, Chair of the Organizing Committee. “Our themes cover environmental protection, energy transition, and achieving climate goals through circular economy strategies. This year, we also included experienced researchers to foster a greater exchange of ideas.”
Many of the presentations delivered by young scientists will not only feature in the traditional conference book but also appear in prestigious, high-impact journals.

The conference was honored by the participation of Prof. Marek Pawełczyk, Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, and Prof. Sebastian Werle, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation.
